Keep Koh Samui Clean
Friday 29th March we grouped together 19 volunteers living around Koh Samui, all different nationalities, to work as one.
Our Mission – Keep Samui Clean and its surrounding Islands.
Organised and funded by Daniel Kerner owner of Samui VIP Speedboat – 3 x speedboats, staff, beverages and his beautiful little daughter.
Usually the beach clean ups are an easily process to arrange, when on Koh Samui. When a Beach Clean Up involves another Island, the costs is much higher and much more planning is required.
Daniel took this on board and set to the challenge, all for the soul purpose of keeping our islands clean and beautiful places for tourists to visit.
We arrived, at Koh Madsum and found it a difficult task to get from the speedboats to land due to the choppy waters and rocky surface. Then I we realised this Beach Clean Up wasn’t going to be a walk in the park or beach 🙂
As we got closer we could the extend of the garbage was immense, not as it appeared from a far. The garbage was mounted high, it was clear then that this was not going to be a Beach Clean Up completed in 1 day.
However setting to our challenge, Team A and Team B took to clear the beach of plastic bottles, shoes, toothbrushes, rubber, fishing floats and empty containers. The plastics piled up where all evidence of garbage thrown over-board from Fisherman or tourists on boat tours.
It takes only minutes to pass your garbage to staff members on board the Yacht tours, Speedboats tours, or Jet Skis. If you cant find a member of staff simply place in your bag and take onto the Island and discard of your rubbish.
DO NOT THROW GARBAGE INTO THE SEA
The day was a success, but a difficult task. A great feeling of achievement to do good thus contributing to saving our Islands and Marine Life.
