A small island in the Adang-Rawi Archipelago of the Strait of Malacca
Koh Lipe (Lepea) is a Thai island located in the Andaman Sea, near the Malaysian border.
The Tarutao National Marine Park, home to Koh Lipe and other small islands, is renowned for its coral-rich waters and stunning turquoise waters.
The island has sandy white beaches: Pattaya, Cozy Cove, Sunrise, Sunset, and Sanom Beach.
Koh Lipe’s maximum length is 2 km, and its maximum width is 2.5 km, making it very easy to get around the whole island in one day by foot.
The vibe around Koh Lipe is very chilled and made up of small local villages in between each beach location. If you choose to walk around the island, you will surely come across a village or two.
At night, the Walking Street emerges as a popular destination, boasting an abundance of restaurants and cool bars. There are also souvenir shops that sell unique items not found on other Thai islands.
On Koh Lipe, spending a late afternoon relaxing at a cool bar overlooking a spectacular setting is a must. Highly recommended are SeaLaVie bar-restaurant, Zodiac See Sun beach bar, both on Sunrise Beach, and Benny’s Beach bar at Cozy Cove.
Accommodation: We highly recommend the Castaway bungalows. Sunrise Beach, Koh Lipe offers a genuine castaway experience.
Koh Lipe’s streets are narrow, making it difficult to spot cars or trucks. Around the island, you can find motorcycle taxis with sidecar seating for luggage and people. The cost of a taxi per person is 50b, and it can transport you to any location on the island.
The sunsets on Koh Lipe are spectacular, and the high season sunrise is worth getting up for.
Koh Lipe is popular for diving and snorkeling from shore or around the Tarutao National Park. The pristine waters and a wealth of marine life make Koh Lipe an ideal destination for snorkeling excursions.
