Bang Niang Beach captivates with its golden sands and gentle waves, framed by a backdrop of verdant foliage and boulders, making it a picturesque beach location. It’s a perfect blend of tranquility.

The evenings at the beachside come alive with bustling markets, providing a taste of local life and cuisine, bars, and restaurants.

Nang Thong Beach: The Heartbeat of Khao Lak

Nang Thong Beach is the pulsating heart of Khao Lak, known for its scenic beauty and proximity to a variety of accommodations and dining options. The beach is a picturesque setting for leisurely walks, sunbathing, and snorkeling, with its clear waters revealing a vibrant underwater world.

Nang Thong, a bustling area of Khao Lak filled with bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and massage shops, is the ideal place to stay if you’re looking for a busier vibe.

Khao Lak Beach: Home of the high end resorts

he Khao Lak Beach is the home of high-end resorts, with a small village with cocktail bars, restaurants, and shops. The natural beauty of Phang Nga province envelops the area.

Khao Lak Beach emerges as a jewel of tranquility, inviting adventurers and peace-seekers alike. Its golden sands, embraced by lush greenery and crystal-clear waters, offer a haven far from the bustling tourist trails, promising an authentic escape into nature’s lap.

Coconut Beach: The most picturesque beach in Khao Lak

The two most picturesque beaches in Khao Lak, according to many, are Coconut Beach and White Sand Beach. Beautiful trees line the shore, creating natural shady areas. The powdery sand is a pale yellowish-white color.

The azure water gently slopes, allowing swimmers to enjoy the water even at low tide. It doesn’t seem incorrect, does it?

White Sand Beach: Most beautiful beach of Khao Lak

Due to their close proximity, visitors to White Sand Beach and Coconut Beach often mistake the two for a single beach. For your information, White Sand Beach and Coconut Beach precede Pakarang Beach/CCape.

In the southern section of Pak Weep Beach, you may find White Sand Beach and Coconut Beach. Khao Lak divides each of its bays into smaller sections of beach, each with its own name, potentially confusing visitors about where to go.

Bang Sak Beach: The beach of the locals

Among the less frequented beaches in Khao Lak, Bang Sak Beach is notable for its seclusion. It shares a southern border with Pak Weep Beach and a northern border with Ban Thap Tawan Beach.

For locals, Bang Sak Beach is just another name for the beach. Reason being, in the heart of the bay, you won’t find any lodging options. On the beach or under the trees, locals and fisherman gather here for picnics or small gatherings. Some little local eateries can be found along the road that runs behind this section of beach. For those curious about regional cuisine and culture, this is a fascinating spot.

Dive into Cultural Immersion

Local Markets: Experience the local culture at Khao Lak’s vibrant markets, such as the Bang Niang Market. Sample traditional Thai dishes, shop for handmade crafts, and mingle with the locals, offering a glimpse into their daily lives.

Bang Niang has a food and music market that opens each day from 4 PM to midnight. The Food Market is located close to Green Pepper Restaurant, an excellent vegetarian restaurant, and is open Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.

The best time to travel

Khao Lak’s rainy season finishes at the end of October and begins again around May. Therefore, the best time to visit is between these months, although at the start of the rainy season, it is still advisable to visit but to expect some rainfall. The weather is still warm.

Getting around Koh Lak

In Khao Lak, Songteaw Taxis are available for private hire or shared transfers. They offer transfers throughout Khao Lak, as far as White Sandy Beach to Khao Lak Beach.

Tips: Khao Lak is a one-way system that runs from one end to the other, making it difficult to visit one area without having to drive to a U-turn, which is approximately every 2/4 KMS. So, when exploring Khao Lak, a strategic plan is recommended. When driving off the main road that runs through Khoa Lak, towards each beach area, the drive is approximately 3 km until reaching the beach areas. Although the drive-ways are lengthy, they are very picturesque.

Hire a scooter – Hiring a scooter gives you the freedom to explore. The driving and roads are very good in Khao Lak, unlike some of the islands. I recommend a scooter for a car because it is very difficult to park a car.

Getting There

Khao Lak is easily accessible from Phuket International Airport and Krabi Airport, followed by a scenic drive of approximately 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Various transportation options are available, including taxis, private transfers, and shuttle services. Booking a private transfer via Get Your Guide below:
