How to see the whale shark

For some reason, the whale sharks tend to appear on the third dive. So when going on diving trips in Thailand, we recommend you go for the third dive!

For those who find two dives are enough, don’t worry; snorkeling or even a little sleep on the sun deck is available as an alternative to the third dive.

Snorkeling trips with Lanta Diver

As snorkelers on Lanta Diver boats, we think safety is as important as when diving. That means that we always have a snorkel briefing. We always have a dedicated snorkel guide who will assist you in the water and point out fascinating things.

In the water, the snorkel guide will show you the best the underwater world has to offer and, of course, try to find the whale shark! There will be a maximum of between 7 and 8 snorkelers per snorkel guide, and we try to match snorkelers with a similar level of experience if possible.

We have life jackets even for small children and a buoyancy aid where you can rest if you get tired.

IMPORTANT! – Flying After Diving

When planning onward travel from Khao Lak, please note that PADI and SSI recommends a minimum interval of 18 hours after making multiple dives.

These giant pinnacles, located in the middle of the South Andaman Sea, offer dramatic underwater scenery, with steep walls covered in red and purple soft corals, dropping right down to 60 m plus. Diving Hin Daeng / Hin Muang has it all, and we can offer you the chance of a lifetime to experience these beautiful reefs.

Kled Kaew Wreck

The Kled Keaw Wreck is a dive site to the east of Koh Phi Phi Leh. Diving Kled Kaew Wreck is a deep dive that is suited for advanced divers. Originally built for the Norwegian Royal Navy in 1948, it was later acquired by the Royal Thai Navy and the Coastal & Marine Resource department to create an artificial reef.

Sunk in 2014. Kled Keaw, an oasis in the middle of the ocean, is teeming with both big and small marine life. Schools of pelagic fish gravitate towards the wreck in search of an easy meal. Smaller tropical fish find refuge in its many nooks and crannies, while macro species cover the structure.

Divers have occasionally encountered sharks, turtles, and rays at the Kled Kaew Wreck. The wreck is 47m long and 8m wide and sits at a maximum depth of 26m. The top of the wheelhouse is around 14 m, and below the wheelhouse, there are two further decks to explore. Diving Kled Keaw Wreck gives you one wreck dive and one dive at the reef Hin Klai.

Hin Klai Reef

Hin Klai reef is a small submerged pinnacle to the east of Phi Leh. Divers often combine one dive at Hin Klai with another dive at the Kled Kaew wreck. The top of the pinnacle is 6m, dropping down to between 13m and 17m.

The site is covered in huge rocks with a wide variety of corals, including anemones, staghorn corals, and gorgonian fans. There are schools of snapper, and you have a decent chance of seeing leopard sharks and stingrays.
