Koh Mook, Trang Province
Koh Mook is in the Trang Province of Southern Thailand in the Andaman Sea, people often translate the island as Ko Muk. Koh Ngai, Koh Libong, the national park area, and Koh Kradan encircle the island.
The national park almost entirely encompasses Koh Mook, ensuring its protection. Deep jungle, cliffs, fruit plantations, and beautiful beaches make up the island. Koh Mook has not succumbed to tourism, allowing for a relaxed lifestyle where locals and visitors coexist harmoniously.
The island is relatively easy to navigate, and for those activities, renting a bicycle is a popular option to get around. Small villages, dotted with beachside restaurants and bars, seem to merge into one another.
The vibrant restaurants and shops create a stunning backdrop against the sapphire blue waters of Koh Mook.
As soon as you arrive at Koh Mook’s pier, you can see the fishing boats and longtail boats.
Early morning, it’s a great sight to see them arrive back with the catch of the day and, throughout the day, working to prepare for the next fishing trip. It can be a bit pongy at points, but hey, its real life on a tropical island!
The best time to visit
For the best experience, visiting Koh Mook should be between November to April. If planning to island hop remember to check the wether pattern for the next Island because it may differ.

Getting around Koh Mook
In Koh Mook there are no cars, only motorbikes and motorbike side cars these are the taxis. See image below Prices vary from 30THB.
Beaches around Koh Mook
Koh Mook actually doesn’t have many beaches that are easily accessible or good for relaxing or swinging. Mangroves surround some of the beaches, providing a lovely setting but not ideal for a day trip.
So much so that some of them do not have names; the locals will quote the hotel name only.
Farang Beach / Charlie beach
Farang Beach/Charlie Beach, which is the same location, is by far the best beach. The origin of the beach’s dual names is a complex story. During the 1990s, a foreigner (FFarang means foreigners in Thai) built a resort named Charlies Hut. The resort gained popularity and attracted tourists to Koh Mook. However, the National Park recognized the land as its own and shut down the resort. This is why it has both names, but the locals will know whether you’re taking a taxi.
The beach offers a variety of local food and drink vendors, complete with umbrellas and tables, but the Mong Bar is the most popular spot to hang out. It’s a super cool bar with plenty of sunbeds available for use when purchasing food and drinks.

For a medium rage accommodation, I cant rate this super cute, family run resort. The rooms are spacious, with a modern rustic feel. Super comfy bedding and the favourite part are the balconies. The breakfast is different, but delicious and nicely presented.

Comprises of a variety of bungalow style to suit guests. A small resort but nicely located in between the centre and Farang beach.

Koh Mook Sivalia Beach Resort
Not in everyone’s budget . It’s the only high end accommodation in Koh Mook but definitely has that Wow factor.
Just beautiful … Everything about this resort is stunning, from the beach, the rooms, the pool area, grounds and the peaceful tropical island vibe.

Koh Mook Mountain View
This resort is perfect if you’re wanting to stay close to Farang Beach/Charlie beach. Beautiful simple but funky little bungalows surrounded by nature.

Koh Mook Tawan Beach House
I came across these two little super cute bungalows by mistake, and happy that I did. They are situated in a little village area with cute beach front restaurants and the owner has a modern coffee shop opposite selling tasty coffee.

How to travel to Koh Mook
Getting to Koh Mook
From Trang City take the minivan (shared van) at 11am from the Railaway station to Khuan Tunk Ko Pier. The ticket is 250 THB. Tickets must be booked via the agents opposit the station.
If opting to drive with motorcycle, its 50THB to take motorcycles on the ferry.
