Phra Saeng is a village and district in Surat Thani province, Southern Thailand. Phra Saeng Village is located South of Surat Thani City.
The name Phra Saeng derives from a dig 120 yrs ago, where a sword was found. The sword is known to be a sword from Royalty and are named Phra saeng swords. The sword is in a museum in Bangkok.
Phra Saeng is situated on the banks of the Tapee river which runs from Krabi and Nakon and joins at Phra Saeng. The Tapee river runs from Phra Saeng to Surat Thani City.
Up until 1980 the Tapee river was used to transport wood, and herbs from Krabi, Surat Thani and Nakon on river rafts.
50 Yrs ago King Rama 9 started to change from river transportation to road transportation. In 1968 King Rama 9 donated a tractor to Phra Saeng village to the community to aid in the building of the road works.
In Phra Saeng village the tractor still remains as a proud reminder, and on Royal festival dates marques are erected around the tractor.
Phra Saeng Village located conveniently mid way from Krabi and Koh Samui making it the perfect location for an overnight stop over and to experience an authentic Thai village.
Phra Saeng village has a local market daily, which is set up around various locations throughout the village daily. Vegetables, fruits, meats, seafood, cakes, clothing, bedding, furniture and toys can be purchased.
Among many small local restaurants, Noodles soups stalls, Dim Sum restaurant, and a floating restaurant on the Tapee river.
Phra Saeng Village is the perfect location as a stop over when travelling around Southern Thailand. Located in between Krabi and Koh Samui allows allows for easy travelling time from Krabi International Airport, Surat Thani International Airport, and Nakhon Si Thammerat Domestic Airport.

From Krabi International Airport (KBV) it is approx 80 minutes drive – Take Highway 4 and Junctions 4037 & 4009
From Krabi Town bus terminal you can take a local bus to Phra Saeng drop off point (where we can organize a transfer to Baan Farang Homestay).

From Surat Thani International Airport (URT) it is approx 60 minutes drive – Take Highway 41 & 44 and Junction 4133
